My friend sent me this LINK. I really like that it’s message is about empowering girls. But also, I like the use of text size and pacing to convey their message.

Posters July 22, 2008

The text from the first poster was concieved from an essay called Guy Debord and the Situationists from the book called DEMANDING THE IMPOSSIBLE a history of anarchism by Peter Marshall, 1992.

The text for the second poster i got from one of my favorite movies Pulp Fiction where uma is O.Ding and Vincent is yelling get the shot!

The text for the third poster was from one of the jones soda caps that i collect that said “you are never bitter, deceptive or petty” i liked this one bc its true.

So then we got the quotes and made them on photoshop and then printed them out in big sizes. So tomorrow were getting double sided tape and putting them up around venice and lincon or about kenny. We will document the process of putting them up around venice. The idea of this project came from learning to love you more.

A speech by Al Gore yesterday challenges us to create 100% of our electricity from renewable energy and carbon free sources in the next 10 years. This speech is amazing. Al Gore is a radical! Love him!

This was my first photoshop project. I used pictures of ppl from the news and i found this guy….some weird lookin dude who stole money from boybands or something. So first i took apart his face then put it on another page and put it together like a puzzle. Next i colored his face with bright colors and ten i put it behind the puzzle face cut outs. After that there was still white spots so i put in some pattterns that i made red with photoshop duce. This was pretty fun i hope to get better at this…..

Blogging July 15, 2008

Think of this class as a laboratory where we collect things we find interesting. This can mean thoughts, ideas, images, videos, sounds, and links to other sites. This Blog is to function as sort of a recepticle to archive and share some of these things and to create space for an informal dialog between the students and between students & instructors.

You can pretty much blog about anything, although we will probably give you some specific things to blog about too. Just use your head. Your under age, so no stuff that will get you or us in trouble. Respect each other, this is a safe space to share. You may respond to each other, but please do not alter someone else’s post (unless they instruct to do so).

I’d like to invite you to generate as much original content as possible. Take photos, make short videos, document something, interview a friend, make a piece of music, write a story or poem or essay, etc. Blogging is it’s own form of communication when you get into it.

You can also add images and videos you find on the web, but if you do this you need to credit where it came from, AND you should write a line or two about why you are adding it, what moves you about it, excites you, repulses you, what does it make you think about, how does it reflect how you feel, whatever…these are ideas, find your own blogging style.

I took this photo at Venice Beach last semester. I didn’t set this up. I loved the funny combination of real seaweed and plastic toy shell…and the possibility that it was a remnant of someone else’s art project.

Here is a video I made for my friend’s birthday a few years ago, I made it using toys i found in her bedroom.

You get the idea! Have fun! Be the highly intelligent amazing explorer you are.
